Holiday Update!

Merry belated Christmas!

Windsor and I flew to Dallas last Sunday for a few extra days before Jeff was able to leave on Wednesday. It was quite a feat flying with Windsor (and all his stuff) by myself, but I pulled a Blanche DuBois and relied on the kindness of strangers. Thanks, bald guy who broke the stroller down to go through security and then put it back together on the other side; thanks, nice older lady who held Windsor while I got my stuff together on the plane; thanks, Southwest employee who carried my bag onto the plane in Houston; and thanks, young girl who helped me maneuver the stroller down the stairs because THE ELEVATOR WAS BROKEN AT THE DALLAS AIRPORT. Now that that's out of the way...

I didn't manage to take any photos of Windsor on the plane, but here we are in Grammy's car when we finally got to Dallas:

Grammy's house was full of new and elaborate toys, like this one:

On Christmas morning, Santa brought Windsor this gigantic sock-monkey-esque sock elephant:

Which he tussled with later in the day:

After a visit at my dad's, we headed home at the delightful hour of 5 am in order to get to the vet by noon to pick up Lulu. On the way home:

We hope you had a great holiday!

Success!

This morning Windsor had tubes put in his ears. It was fairly non-traumatic -- which I did not expect.

Here's Windsor with his hospital gown on.

After about 15 minutes, our doctor came out to report that the procedure had gone fine and that there was way more fluid in his ears than she previously thought. She also added the delicious detail that it was thick and sticky -- she said he had "glue ear." Yum. She also said that Windsor has probably been hearing most of what we say as "wah wah wah" -- not unlike Miss Othmar, Charlie Brown's teacher.

We went back to recovery and Windsor was surprisingly quiet. Most kids scream their faces off at this point, but not our guy! We gave him a bottle and then he started crying a bit, but after a few minutes he fell asleep. When he woke up, we got dressed and headed home.

Windsor is in his bed now snoozing off his stressful morning. We're all glad the whole thing is over!

Breaking News!

Here are some things:

1. We are in the process of getting new teeth and are therefore cranky. Not that you can tell that here:

2. On Tuesday -- hereby renamed Tubesday -- Windsor is getting tubes in his ears. It is a quick procedure done under a little light anesthesia and will do wonders for Sir's recurring ear infections. However, I hear that the hour after he wakes up will be pure hell on all of us, so I am trying to prepare myself now.

3. The shaking off of the anesthesia will probably be nothing compared to this, Windsor's bad night. Sir was tired and decided to rub peas into his eyes and hair. Good to know that peas work as a natural pomade, though.

Sir was not amused.

4. Windsor is cute.

Random Photo Tuesday!

Here are a few photos from the last few days.

Ever wonder what would happen if you asked a 7-month old to feed himself?

We were about to put Windsor's tiny baby swing into the attic, but stuck him in it just to see what would happen. What happened was he loved it! Plus, it allows easy access to your toes.

And finally, it's not the best picture, but I think you can see the teeth here!

Ladies and Gentlemen...

...we have teeth! Plural! The two bottom teeth busted through Thursday night and each day get a little toothier. I haven't gotten photographic evidence yet, but I'm working on it.

That is all.

Baby Close-Up.

Tonight Windsor lolled on the floor while I took roughly four billion pictures of him. Seriously, I think there are 26 or so of them. You'd never guess by the fact that his hand is in his mouth that he has two teeth about to pop through!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Windsor and I have enjoyed having this Tuesday holiday together. Here's Win this morning during our floor time.

Messy Marvin.

This morning Windsor tried carrots for the first time.

When I say "Windsor tried carrots" I mean "Windsor tried [to keep] carrots [out of his mouth]." He did a great job!

He did end up eating all of them, once I mixed them with #1 favorite vegetable squash and then #1 favorite fruit peaches. Doesn't that sound repulsive? Carrot, squash, and peach souffle? Whatever it takes, y'all.

Oh, and note that he is clapping in the second photo! Overnight, it seems, Windsor has discovered this super fun activity. It's especially fun when you have carrots all over your hands so they spatter everywhere. (Win got a bath roughly 15 seconds after these photos were taken.)

Lulu in Stealth Mode.

The scene last weekend:

This all happened in a matter of seconds. Note how Windsor didn't change positions at all while Lulu snuck up on him!

Happy Election Day!

Go cast your vote!

Unfortunately, Windsor is not on the ticket this year. However, he did vote with his dad this morning!

Happy Halloween!

After his luxurious two-week vacation at home, Windsor has had a hard week trying to adjust to being back at school during the day. While he's been in a great mood, he just refuses to go to sleep. This means we get home from school/work and he conks out. The negative to this is that it's kind of like he's gone to college or something. The positive to this is that he's back to sleeping through the night.

All this week at his school it's been "spirit week." Monday was cowboy day, Tuesday was college day, Wednesday was silly sock day, yesterday was pajama day, and today is, of course, costume day! I want you to know I was a teeny bit late to work because I was trying to get these pictures off the camera and into the computer this morning, but I think it was worth it.

Cutest, friendliest lion ever!

Six Month Report!

Windsor turned six months old yesterday! Can you believe it? I can't.

He has ad to stay home from daycare for two weeks because of his stupid virus (the virus, RSV, takes 14 days to cycle through the system), but feels great and has enjoyed his vacation time with his Mom, Dad, and both grandmothers. He has had ample time to perfect his favorite activity, rolling around on the floor:

And I couldn't resist posting this one. He's just so bootylicious:

We also have six-month stats to report:
Height: 29 inches (99th percentile)
Weight: 21 lbs, 8 oz (96th percentile)
Head size: 47 cm (99th percentile)

And he's still off the charts in terms of cheeriness and chattiness.

Sick Day(s).

One of the creatures in this photo is sick with a nasty virus:

Hint: it's not the dead dog in the background.

Windsor has a respiratory virus that apparently takes two weeks to run its course, which is bad news for everyone involved. He is still in good spirits, though, and has spent most of his time rolling around on the floor (the man cannot stay on his back these days) and saying "rah rah rah ba ba da da da ra ra ra."

I took a couple of super close-ups of him yesterday. There were some nice, normal ones, but this one cracks me up:

More Proof He's a Genius!

One of the reasons we love Windsor's daycare -- er, nursery school -- so much is its emphasis on art. Sure, he's a baby and all, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have creative urges. Check out this photo of Windsor's first painting, still hanging on the wall at school.

In the middle, I clearly see a baby in the fetal position with an acorn squash hovering above it. To the left, we have the artist's initial (kind of sideways) and an airplane.

Excellent photo taken with Jeff's camera phone.

Baby Genius.

Last night as we were getting dinner ready I propped up Windsor's bottle in his bassinet on a wad of blankets. When I looked over at him a minute later, I saw this:

It might've been a fluke, but until I know for sure I'm calling GENIUS on this one.

Big Day for the Big Boy.

Here are some photos from this afternoon's post-church photo session.

Soon after these were taken, Windsor ate most of a jar of applesauce, drank a bottle, and then knocked himself out. (We've revisited solid foods with great success this time!)

Thursday Night Report.

Windsor has been crashing hard in the evenings when we get home from work/school, but last night he graced us with his presence for a few hours before conking out again.

After the entertainment portion of the evening was over, we had a bath, after which Win showed off his new skill: foot-eating.

Have a good weekend!

My Helper.

Windsor was a big help this morning as I was cleaning the guest room, as you can see here.
